Sustainable packaging: the choice of LeLang

We are a growing company and, like all Italian businesses that express themselves by providing products to the public, we have many duties and responsibilities toward consumers and the environment. One of the main ones is undoubtedly striving for the highest possible product quality, which we achieve through careful research into cutting-edge active ingredients and the formulation of certified skincare products.

Another goal every company should set itself is transparency. Being a transparent business means building a relationship of mutual trust with the public. For this reason, we want to put every small step we take and every change we make in writing as we work toward social, environmental, and economic sustainability—in other words, sustainability across every area of our production and our people.

A practical choice: removing the outer box

We decided to remove the outer packaging from the Cleansing Detox Mousse, leaving only the foamer, specifically to reduce waste even further. We continue to take the greatest care when shipping and delivering an intact, high-quality product to every customer, just as we bring professionalism and transparency to everything we do.

Removing the packaging from one of our flagship products designed to cleanse the skin is a choice that matters greatly to us, and one we are making for the good of the planet and everyone who lives on it: this means living consciously and producing transparently.

What European packaging figures tell us

The European Commission has promoted new rules on packaging to address the excessive growth of this source of waste. On average, every European citizen generates almost 180 kg of packaging waste each year. This is because industrial packaging is the largest user of virgin materials: an estimated 40% of the plastic and 50% of the paper used in Europe are destined for consumer goods packaging.

With the goal of meeting the zero-emissions target by 2030, the European Union itself has taken steps to prevent a further increase in packaging waste. Environmental sustainability is an issue close to our hearts: protecting our planet is a practice we must learn, both as consumers and as producers, because it benefits everyone. If we want to start producing less waste and cleaning up our planet, the time has come to produce less packaging and promote the proper recycling of containers.

Since we wrote this article, the regulatory framework has evolved: in January 2025, Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) was published, establishing specific bans starting in 2030. We have analysed its impact on the cosmetics sector in our guide to sustainable cosmetic packaging and the 2026 regulations.

The role of conscious choice

Our commitment does not stop there. It also involves selecting the best active ingredients from natural sources and directing our daily efforts toward responsible consumption. There are countless things we can do for the planet: by carefully selecting products suited to our skin type, we can avoid wasting products and their packaging.

This is where personalised advice comes in. It identifies our customers' skin needs and helps guide their purchasing choices. It is the simplest way to avoid buying a bottle on impulse and never finishing it: fewer unsuitable products means less waste, not just lower spending.

One step at a time, going against the trend

The regulations introduced by the European Union highlight the importance of every individual action, which is why we have decided to act in this area as well. We often use minimal, essential packaging for our products, favouring recyclable materials. Minimising packaging is a small step toward greater environmental sustainability, and fortunately technology is helping us: the product information leaflet is becoming digital, avoiding further waste.

Reducing packaging components naturally has both economic and environmental benefits. Making packaging lighter significantly reduces production and disposal costs, which is why many companies have started removing secondary packaging. And although our choice goes against the many viral #unboxing videos, we want to send a clear message: the box lasts as long as a video.

If you would like to learn more about the philosophy behind these choices, you can find everything in the article on LeLang and sustainable beauty.
