LeLang Skin Care · The founder

Elisa Avalle

Entrepreneur, specialized in dermocosmetics and the brand’s formulation expert.

LeLang was not born from a cosmetics trend.
It was born from a forest.

Elisa Avalle is the founder and CEO of LeLang Skin Care, an Italian cosmetics brand born in the Langhe from the meeting of formulation research, dermocosmetic expertise, pharmacy culture and environmental protection. She earned the Postgraduate Diploma in Dermocosmetics at the Universitat de Barcelona and is the person behind the study and development of the formulas, as well as the company’s scientific and educational voice.

She oversees the development of cosmetic protocols, the training of partner pharmacists, the scientific content of the LeLang magazine and skincare consultations for customers.

The origins

The forest from which LeLang was born

Next to LeLang’s headquarters stretches the forest created and cared for over the years by Francesco Avalle, Elisa’s father.

The LeLang forest, next to the company headquarters.

Today, the forest covers approximately 40 hectares, but it is not a completed project: it continues to expand year after year through the acquisition of new land, the planting of trees and the protection of existing areas.

Francesco Avalle devoted an important part of his life to creating this ecosystem, with the aim of restoring oxygen to the local area, providing refuge for local wildlife and leaving future generations a natural space to protect. The idea for LeLang grew from this family heritage.

The project’s first stage took shape through the study of the extraction and cosmetic use of Vitis vinifera, the emblematic plant of the Langhe. That initial research led to the development of a complete cosmetics brand, bringing together naturally derived active ingredients, biotechnology and knowledge of the skin: the journey is described on the page dedicated to the brand’s sustainability.

For Elisa, the forest is not a backdrop to be used in the brand’s communication. It is the origin of LeLang and, at the same time, a personal and business responsibility: the company’s growth must contribute to protecting and expanding the forest, ultimately giving rise to the LeLang Foundation, dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and the local area.

Training

Specialization in dermocosmetics

Formación de Postgrado en Dermocosmética — Diploma de EspecializaciónUniversitat de Barcelona · Spain’s top university, QS Europe University Rankings 2026

An advanced university program designed in accordance with the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area, dedicated to the study of cosmetic products: from composition to mechanisms of action, from safety to legislation, and finally to application criteria. The postgraduate program enabled Elisa to explore:

  • the structure, functions, and types of skin;
  • cosmetic ingredients and their mechanisms of action;
  • the safety and legislation of cosmetic products;
  • hydration and protection of the skin barrier;
  • photoprotection;
  • skin aging;
  • pigmentation disorders;
  • anti-aging and depigmenting actives;
  • body and scalp cosmetics;
  • the development of dermocosmetic protocols.
Her field of expertise covers dermocosmetics, cosmetic formulation, the study of actives, the development of protocols, and scientific communication applied to skincare. It does not include the diagnosis or treatment of skin conditions, which remain the responsibility of a physician or dermatologist.

The method

How LeLang formulas are created

LeLang formulations are developed in-house. Every new product starts with a specific cosmetic need identified by Elisa: dehydration, sensitivity, impaired skin barrier, loss of elasticity, blemishes, dark spots, oxidative stress, or visible signs of aging.

Elisa develops the initial framework of the formula: she studies and selects the functional actives, evaluates their synergies, and defines the cosmetic result and sensory characteristics. The project is then developed together with the chemists, formulators, and pharmacists who work with LeLang, and she evaluates the prototypes and approves the final product.

Production is entrusted to specialized Italian cosmetic laboratories, while the concept, formulation project, and product direction remain within LeLang.

The philosophy

Functional cosmetics according to Elisa

The principle behind the LeLang catalog is functional cosmetics: starting from what the skin actually needs, not from the ingredient that is most popular on social media.

Functionality

Chosen for their function, the available documentation, and the concentrations used — never in minimal amounts just for the label.

Essentials

No ten-step routine: targeted products incorporated into simple protocols that can be sustained over time.

Transparency

Saying what a cosmetic product can do, but also what it cannot do. Information before promises.

“Skincare is a personal journey and cannot be the same for everyone. I believe in the essentials: a few well-chosen products, thoughtfully developed formulas, and consistency in use.”

Distribution

Why LeLang chose pharmacies

For Elisa, the pharmacist is a fundamental figure in dermocosmetics: a professional close to people, able to listen and guide them towards suitable products and protocols, away from random purchases and unreliable trends.

For this reason, LeLang invests in training its pharmacy partners, providing in-depth information on active ingredients, technical and educational materials, and protocols tailored to different skin needs. Its relationship with pharmacies transformed LeLang from a project born in the Langhe into a skincare brand recognized across several areas of Italy.

Public education

The scientific voice of LeLang

Elisa writes the in-depth articles for the LeLang magazine, ingredient profiles, cosmetic glossaries, and protocols for different skin needs. The aim is to make complex topics understandable, distinguishing research-supported information from exaggerated claims.

The content is intended for informational purposes and does not replace a medical diagnosis or treatment. In the presence of skin conditions or persistent changes, a dermatologist remains the appropriate point of reference.

The milestones

How the project began

LeLang was born from a journey that began in 2018, when Elisa started a collaboration focused on studying and extracting Vitis vinifera for the cosmetics sector. This first experience sparked her interest in dermocosmetic formulation and in developing functional products based on research and the thoughtful selection of active ingredients.
