Grape Seed Oil for the Skin: all the properties and benefits

Grape seed oil, also known as Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, is an oil that is easily absorbed by the skin, leaving it soft to the touch and not greasy. It is indeed an oil with a thin consistency and much less fatty compared to other types of oils. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for oily or acne-prone skin.

Wonderfully light, it is used in cosmetics for its countless anti-aging, antioxidant, and rejuvenating properties. Moreover, it enhances the absorption of other cosmetic ingredients by the skin, promoting their effectiveness and providing immediate benefits. It acts as a carrier oil even for more intense oils.

Rich in phytoceramides, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids, grape seed oil is a resource of extraordinary value for taking care of your skin, and it is often used as a massage oil or treatment for healthier and stronger hair. Let's discover its characteristics and properties together.

What is grape seed oil?

'Quest’olio is obtained from the cold pressing of the seeds found in grape berries. The extract of grape seeds Vitis Vinifera is therefore obtained from what should be considered waste material and thus represents a sustainable and natural solution that helps the environment. Grape seed oil is capable of providing powerful nutrition and multi-corrective performance and easily adapts to all skin types, ages, complexions, and conditions.'

Grape seed oil is indeed able to regulate the skin pigmentation process by acting on melanin synthesis. In this way, it brings brightness to the skin and reduces spots and signs of hyperpigmentation. In this sense, it is also ideal for those with darker skin, to treat acne scars and to soothe the harmful effects of sun damage.

The benefits of grape seed oil

The extract of Vitis Vinifera is a perfect anti-aging agent as it has various antioxidant properties and stimulates the microcirculation of subcutaneous blood, providing a vasodilating effect that helps increase blood flow through the dilation of vessels and capillaries. Thus, the skin can receive a greater supply of oxygen and nutrients.

The grape seed oil contains

  • Essential fatty acids (oleic, linoleic or omega-6, palmitic and stearic);
  • Vitamin E elasticizing;
  • Phytosterols;
  • Hydrophilic constituents (proanthocyanidins) antioxidant.

In particular, phytosterols are able to block inflammatory mediators and consequently reduce oxidative stress. The antioxidant power of grape seed oil lies in the presence of Vitamin E and oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC).

These last ones, repair the damage to collagen caused by free radicals and help prevent the onset of wrinkles and fine lines. At the same time, vitamin E acts as an elasticizing and moisturizing agent for the skin, but also as a soothing agent for irritations.

On its part, linoleic acid omega-6 is a natural compound that brings countless benefits to the skin: it is indeed able to retain moisture in the skin or hair, preventing water from evaporating and drying out the skin, making it more prone to irritation. Linoleic acid also acts as a soothing and calming agent on the skin, while oleic acid omega-9 improves the softness and elasticity of the skin and hair, making the tone and complexion healthier and more radiant. Completing the picture of fatty acids, palmitic has emollient properties and allows it to act as an emulsifier for oils, while stearic acid removes dirt and excess sebum from the skin without being aggressive.

Grape seed oil also serves as an antibacterial and healing agent that stimulates skin repair following minor wounds. Its antimicrobial properties make grape seed oil particularly suitable for acne-prone skin. Furthermore, grape seed oil is non-comedogenic and is light enough to penetrate the skin layer without leaving a greasy residue.

Thanks to these components, grape seed oil is able to make the skin more soft and hydrated, as well as to even out the tone and complexion, making the texture of the skin soft and nourished.

Essential fatty acids, natural antioxidants, and vitamins allow grape seed oil to:

1 - Reduce dark spots and prevent signs of hyperpigmentation;

2 - Minimize the appearance of scars and accelerate the skin healing process at the cellular level;

3 - Make the skin firmer, more elastic and radiant;

4 - Protect the skin of the face from damage caused by free radicals and UV rays by promoting collagen repair through the presence of proanthocyanidin, an antioxidant 20 times more powerful than vitamin E and 50 times more powerful than vitamin C.
