L'pomegranate extract is obtained from the fruit of Punica granatum. It belongs to the family of plant-based antioxidants and, more specifically, to the polyphenol group, where it is one of the most studied phytocomplexes.
Its richness lies in ellagitannins — led by punicalagins — together with ellagic acid and anthocyanins, which give the fruit its color. On the skin, they limit the oxidation of the lipids that make up the skin barrier, triggered by UV rays and pollution, and help preserve an even-looking complexion.
In LeLang formulas, it appears in thecleansing oil and sunscreen, where it supports the primary function with antioxidant benefits. It is particularly suitable for those who live in cities and are exposed daily to smog and particulate matter.
It should be distinguished fromfermented pomegranate extract, which is another raw material: in that case, fermentation breaks ellagitannins down into smaller, more readily absorbed fragments; here, the phytocomplex remains intact and works through the combined action of all its molecules.
