Aloe vera

L'aloe vera used in cosmetics is the juice extracted from the inner parenchyma of the leaves of Aloe barbadensis. It belongs to the family of plant humectants and is one of the ingredients with the longest history of use in all of cosmetics.

The active ingredients are the polysaccharides dissolved in the juice: acemannan and glucomannans, chains of sugars that form a hydrophilic film on the skin, capable of retaining water and slowing its evaporation. Alongside these, the juice contains amino acids, trace elements, and vitamins, which complement its moisturizing action with nutritional benefits.

It is recommended after sun exposure, after shaving, and on reactive skin, where relief is felt instantly. It works best followed by a cream, which seals the film and prolongs its effect throughout the day. In cleansers, it leaves the skin soft rather than tight; in creams, it works alongside other moisturizers. There is no limit to how often it can be used.

It is one of the few ingredients that provides a benefit noticeable the instant it is applied while continuing to work over the following hours: immediate relief for overheated skin and the polysaccharide film that accompanies it for the rest of the day. This dual effect is what makes it suitable for every step of the routine, from cleanser to body cream.
