Damask rose water

L'Damask rose water is the hydrosol obtained by steam-distilling the petals of the Rosa damascena, the rose from which one of the world's most precious essential oils is obtained. It belongs to the family of aromatic waters.

Its most useful feature is its slightly acidic pH, close to the skin's physiological 4.5–5.5 range. After cleansing, the skin's acid mantle needs time to rebuild, and a product with this pH supports that recovery rather than prolonging its disruption. It also contains phenylethanol and flavonoids, which contribute to an immediate feeling of comfort.

It is suitable for sensitive and reactive skin, where every step of the routine matters. In LeLang formulas, it replaces water in the aqueous phase of serums: this is a formulation choice concerning the ingredient present in the greatest quantity, transforming the vehicle into an active component of the product.

The rose's natural fragrance contains allergens that regulations require to be declared, such as citronellol and geraniol. Seeing them on the label means that the floral note comes from the distilled petal and not from a synthetic fragrance: information that helps people with highly reactive skin make informed choices.
