L'ylang-ylang essential oil is obtained by distilling the flowers of the Cananga odorata, a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. It belongs to the family of essential oils and in perfumery, it is one of the most instantly recognizable floral raw materials.
The main components are linalool, benzyl acetate and germacrene, which together create an intense, sweet and long-lasting floral note. Distillation takes place in successive fractions, each with a different profile: the first is the most valuable and sought-after by perfumers.
It is used in body treatments and massage oils, where the olfactory dimension is an integral part of the experience. As an essential oil, it is used at very low concentrations and is always diluted in the formula.
