The vitamin C used in LeLang formulas is 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a derivative in which the molecule is bonded to an ethyl group. It belongs to the antioxidant family and is the most extensively studied ingredient for skin radiance and an even complexion.
Pure ascorbic acid has a well-known drawback: it oxidizes quickly when exposed to air and light, and a serum that turns amber has already lost much of its activity. The ethyl bond solves the problem at its source: the molecule remains stable in the product and is converted into its active form once on the skin. From there, it neutralizes free radicals, acts on melanin synthesis, and contributes to processes involving collagen.
It works on dark spots, dull complexion, and photoaging. Apply it in the morning, under sunscreen, with which it forms a two-level defense. Radiance improves within four weeks; evening out dark spots takes more time and consistency.
It pairs well with niacinamide andferulic acid: the former acts on a different step in the formation of dark spots, while the latter prolongs its activity. These combinations multiply the results of each active ingredient rather than simply adding them together.
