The Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, abbreviated SAP, is a water-soluble derivative of vitamin C. It belongs to the family of antioxidants and was developed to solve the best-known problem of pure ascorbic acid: its instability.
The molecule is protected by a phosphate group that prevents its oxidation as long as the product remains in the bottle. Once it is applied to the skin, skin phosphatases remove it and release active vitamin C. This is a gradual, not immediate, release: less intense than that of pure ascorbic acid, but consistent over time and without the risk of the serum turning yellow before it is finished.
It works oncomplexion uniformity by acting on tyrosinase, the enzyme that initiates melanin production, and supports collagen synthesis. In LeLang formulas, it appears in the Perlage cream and Spot Defence sunscreen, where it complements the filters with antioxidant protection. Use it morning and evening; changes in skin tone become noticeable after four to six weeks.
It is among the forms of vitamin C that are best toleratedbecause it works at a pH close to physiological levels and does not require the acidic environment of pure ascorbic acid: a quality that makes it suitable even for people with reactive skin who cannot tolerate traditional forms of vitamin C.
