Field mint

L'wild mint essential oil is obtained by distilling the leaves of Mentha arvensis, field mint. It belongs to the essential oil family and should be distinguished from peppermint: it is the species with the highest menthol content, from which menthol has traditionally been isolated.

The menthol acts on skin receptors that respond to cold: the refreshing sensation does not result from an actual drop in temperature, but from activating those receptors. This is why the effect is felt immediately and lasts only a few minutes. At the same time, the feeling of freshness accompanies the massage and enhances its pleasantness.

In LeLang formulas, it appears in body treatments, where it works together with the other essential oils in the blend. Like all essential oils, it is used at very low concentrations and always diluted within the formula, never applied pure to the skin.

Its richness in menthol calls for moderation: it is an ingredient for body treatments, not the face, and should be avoided on damaged skin and by young children. People with very reactive skin should try it first on a small area.
