The Matrixyl® 3000 is a complex of two peptides: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. It belongs to the family of signal peptides, which communicate with dermal cells, and is among the most extensively studied peptide complexes in anti-aging cosmetics.
The two fragments mimic those naturally produced by the skin when collagen breaks down. fibroblasts read them as a repair signal and respond by increasing the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans, the molecules that retain water in the dermal matrix. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 also affects the production of interleukin-6, one of the cytokines involved in the low-grade inflammation that accompanies skin aging. It works on wrinkles caused by loss of support and on the overall firmness of the face. Apply it morning and evening before moisturizer; it is one of the best-tolerated peptides and is also suitable for reactive skin.
